One of the 2 major ports on the island. Kawaihae harbor is where the first horses and cattle landed. Also where "Waterworld" was filmed. The stonework to the right is the remains of the sacred Pu'ukokola Heiau, built by Kamehameha in 1791 to promote unification of the Hawaiian islands under one ruler.
