In Your Face

Construction of the clock was started in 1852 by E. J. Dent, and completed after Dent's death by Sir Charles Barry on May 31, 1859. Until 1976, when extensive repairs were required, the clock had kept accurate time almost continuously. The clock face, the largest in Britain, is 22.5 feet in diameter and the minute hand is 14 feet long.
